Born in Hamburg, Germany, Paula is a fashion and portrait photographer who is driven by her interactions with people and surrounding landscapes. A big part of Paula’s practice is the use of natural light to develop soft and flat imagery, influenced by romanticism and the Pre-Raphaelites era.
As a very nostalgic person, the memories of her childhood are translated into natural portraits to remind her of the landscapes she was surrounded by growing up. Her images aim to capture this feeling of subtle melancholy as well as the celebration of the little moments in life. The people and places around her are her biggest inspiration and have been an ongoing influence on her work.
In 2017, she won the Rotary Young Photographer of the Year and was awarded judges choice at Beyond the Frame the following year. In the last year, she has exhibited her work as part of an online group exhibition titled ‘the little things we tell ourselves' at The Gallery MUI as well as the summer open exhibition at The Assembly House Norwich. Most recently, she was shortlisted for the AOP Student Awards and got commissioned to shoot this year's merchandise campaign for Latitude Festival.
